Who Claude pays

Claude's biggest bill isn't Google, Amazon or Microsoft. It's Broadcom: about $161B, in Anthropic's IPO filing.

The full story

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, filed to go public on 26 Oct. The filing lists what it has promised to pay for computing

  • Broadcom: about $161B, 5-year leases on AI chip hardware
  • SpaceX: up to $121B, for Nvidia-powered data centers
  • Google: about $115B of cloud, to 2033
  • Amazon: $110B of cloud, to 2036
  • Microsoft: about $45B of cloud, to 2033

Most of these must be paid even if Claude uses less. Sales came to $16.3B in Jan–Jun 2026.

Caveat: the promises run over 3 to 10 years and sales are growing fast, so the tap (6 months of sales) and the buckets (years of bills) cover different time spans. SpaceX's deal is "up to": after early 2027 either side can leave on 90 days' notice. Yahoo Finance reports Broadcom's hardware is built on Google's TPU chips; the filing says "specialized AI accelerators".

Why it matters: Claude's growth is booked as sales for these five companies for years. Anthropic plans to list as ANT.
